Why is Dual Fuel Forklift becoming a Trend?

June 4th, 2024

Dual fuel forklifts, also known as LPG forklifts, are increasingly becoming a popular choice in the material handling industry. This trend can be attributed to the numerous advantages that come with using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as a fuel source.

LPG, also known as liquefied propane gas, is a clean and low-polluting fuel that is gaining recognition from governments around the world. It is a colorless and odorless gas, with the distinct smell being added for leak detection purposes. LPG significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions, improves indoor and outdoor air quality, and helps in mitigating the greenhouse effect.

Balanced LPG forklifts, equipped with LPG conversion devices, allow for easy switching between gasoline and liquefied gas. By replacing gasoline, diesel, heating oil, and most solid fuels with LPG, society can benefit greatly. LPG is widely available and with the increase in natural gas fields worldwide, its supply range is expected to expand further, providing a significant cost advantage compared to traditional fuels.

One of the biggest advantages of using a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) forklift is that the carbon monoxide (CO) emissions in the exhaust gas are approximately only half of that of gasoline, reducing the need for ventilation in enclosed environments. LPG engines are similar to fuel engines, making maintenance relatively simple and suitable for both indoor and outdoor operations with high environmental requirements. Fuel replacement usually only takes a few minutes, and a tank of fuel can typically sustain a forklift for 3-5 hours of operation, allowing drivers to easily change it themselves.

In summary, the advantages of LPG forklifts include:

 1. Extremely low carbon dioxide emissions, low pollution, and improved indoor and outdoor air quality in workshops.

2. Improves engine lubrication, extending the engine's lifespan by more than double.

3. Enhances engine performance, making it easier to start in cold weather and operate with lower noise levels.

4. Reduces fuel costs, saving approximately half of the diesel fuel costs per day based on current oil prices. Additionally, with adjustments in national fuel tax policies, the economic benefits are evident.

5. In terms of fuel application, LPG can be liquefied at low pressure and room temperature, making it convenient for transportation, storage, and carrying, thus proving to be cost-effective.

In conclusion, the increasing popularity of dual fuel forklifts can be attributed to the environmental benefits, cost advantages, and ease of maintenance that come with using LPG as a fuel source. As governments and industries continue to prioritize environmental sustainability, the trend of using LPG forklifts is expected to grow even further in the future.
