Tracked excavators and wheeled excavators are designed for completely different working environments due to their structural differences.
Crawler excavators feature low ground pressure (0.3~0.6 kg/cm²), making them ideal for challenging terrains such as mines, swamps, and steep slopes. Their superior stability suits heavy-duty operations, but they require transport via trailer and may damage paved surfaces. They are primarily used in off-road construction projects.
Wheeled excavators offer high mobility, capable of self-propelled travel (20~40 km/h), making them perfect for urban municipal work and road maintenance on hardened surfaces. Their tires cause no pavement damage, but their higher ground pressure (1.5~3 kg/cm²) limits soft-ground performance without additional support like steel plates. They typically have a maximum capacity of 30 tons.
Conclusion: Choose tracked excavators for rugged terrains and wheeled excavators for urban efficiency. For mixed conditions, consider hybrid models with rubber tracks or all-terrain wheel configurations.
